The Montgomery Chamber of Commerce held Conversations: Roundtables for Professional Women on Wednesday April 22. The event was held at the Montgomery Country Club. Almost 200 River Region businesswomen were in attendance. Guests enjoy lunch and opportunities to network with other River Region businesswomen.

Conversations provided professional women information they can use to make the best choices in their careers and personal lives. Casey Donavon, Regional Business Consultant with John Hancock Investments, gave brief presentation on topics specific to working women. Topics discussed included investments, retirement planning, financial literacy, and elderly care. Concerns about family and health were also addressed. In her presentation, Casey shared how 65% of women are concerned about their own health, 69% are concerned for the health of their spouse, and 57% are concerned about the responsibility of taking care of an aging parent.

After the presentation, guests engaged in lively roundtable discussions. At one table, it was discussed how younger women aren’t realistic about saving and planning. A nurse manager for Baptist Hospital shared how she educated hey younger female co-workers about financial planning. Another table talked about balancing work and home.
