Montgomery, AL – The Council on Substance Abuse- NCADD (COSA- NCADD) hosted a Back to School Bash on August 6, 2016 at Kustom Kreations Floral and Gift Shop in Selma, AL. Over 50 K-12th graders attended the event.

COSA-NCADD gave away free school supplies and offered information literature on underage drinking and tobacco use. Students had the opportunity to learn how drinking can impair their vision by wearing Fatal Vision Goggles which gave them the illusion of being intoxicated. Students also had the opportunity to engage in different activities such as face painting.

Kustom Kreations Floral and Gift Shop Owner Kimberly Evans Williams said that they partner with several organizations in order to give back to the community and get involved with youth. “We just love giving” Williams expressed. “Our children are our future.”

Local elected officials were also present at the event. Selma City Council President Corey D. Bowie and Councilwoman Angela Benjamin attended the event and helped by getting the word out to local radio stations.
