Montgomery, AL- Empowering Communities Helping Ourselves (ECHO) will sponsor its 10th annual “Taste of Christmas”, Saturday, December 17, 2016, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Westside Baptist Church, 2510 Westgate Street. Come and enjoy a taste of Montgomery’s finest restaurant’s and our neighborhood chef’s favorite dishes and performances from youth from across the city of Montgomery.
Proceeds from this year’s event will help to expand the efforts of ECHO’s Youth Development program which includes a free At Risk after school feeding program that benefits 400 impoverished and at risk children, Mondays through Fridays in Montgomery, Alabama. ECHO’s Real Meals for Kids program allows at risk children attending after school programs within our public school systems and/or community centers to receive free nutritious snacks and meals each day at no cost to their families.
Carver High School, Lanier High School, Bellingrath Middle, Floyd Middle School, Brew Tech High School, Connecting Life Center, Pilgrim Rest Church, Faith Christian Center, Smart Start Learning Center, Common Grounds, Ark of Safety after School, and Kid Dynasty Afterschool programs are some of the sites that ECHO has sponsored. To date the program has served over 100,000 meals, but there are many more children in the city of Montgomery that need to be served.
