I ONLY USE CASH, WHY DO I NEED CREDIT?- PART 1

willfrazierSo you use cash for every purchase, you like to get a paper pay check to exchange for cash in hand, or you let funds come direct deposit to your account then go withdraw all of your money out of your account and go use the cash to pay for bills and expenses.

You walk around daily with a stack of money either in your pocket, in your wallet, or in your purse and you probably have some money stashed away in your house as well.

So what’s wrong with that you ask? That’s the way you have handled money for years and that’s what works for you, you say? Well that might be true BUT by always using cash you are hurting yourself in 3 ways: Security, Convenience, and Your Future.

Security

We don’t like to think about the bad things that can happen to us but as Murphy’s Law says: Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. The only thing we don’t know is how long it will take before something actually goes wrong. I have heard plenty people tell me “I am always careful, I have never made a mistake before, that will never happen to me”. The truth is unless you have a magical crystal ball you don’t know what will happen to you today or tomorrow until it happens!

That being said, cash provides you with no security. If you are carrying cash you could get robbed, pull your wallet out and drop a few bills, or leave your purse in your car and your car gets broken into. If a robbery, fire, or natural disaster happens at your home what will happen if the cash in your home gets taken or destroyed?

The answer is you’ll be broke until you can get some more cash because once that physical money is gone it’s gone. More than likely you had bills to pay with that money, diapers to buy, or groceries to get. Either way these are situations you can avoid by carrying as little cash on you as possible.
