Leadership Montgomery Announces New Executive Director

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Cheryl Lange, formerly with Bonnie Plants, a national plant wholesaler, was recently named Executive Director of Leadership Montgomery, the city’s only organization dedicated solely to developing and connecting leaders to drive change. Lange replaces Cheryl Carter, who retired last year after an outstanding 10 +year career as executive director.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Cheryl’s passion and energy to serve as our new executive director,” said Stacia Robinson, President of the organization.  “A recent graduate of the program, Cheryl comes to the position with a tremendous skillset, as well as a terrific understanding and dedication to our mission.”

Prior to joining Bonnie Plants, Lange served as a fundraiser for Huntingdon College and a vice president for commercial credit for both Regions and Compass banks.  She graduated magna cum laude from Troy University with a degree in banking and has served in a number of community leadership positions, including serving on the boards of the Montgomery Humane Society and Make-a-Wish Alabama and as chair of the finance committee at Heritage Baptist Church.  She has also served as president of the American Businesswomen’s Association.

Lange will begin on July 31.

Leadership Montgomery is currently immersing its 34th class of leaders in the nine-month program that exposes class members to all aspects of Montgomery life, including law enforcement, education, health, arts and much more.  It also runs a leadership training class for younger leaders, called Torchbearers.  Class members are invited to participate with careful consideration given to diversity and leadership potential.
