Montgomery, AL- The Montgomery Executive Speaker Series was hosted Monday at Montgomery Whitewater. The theme was “This Is Montgomery: A History and Future of Defense and Innovation”.
The series included a panel discussion moderated by Chief Master Sergeant Mataya Williams, Alabama Air National Guard 187th Fighter Wing and Lt. Col. Retired Dex McCain, Air University about the future of innovation and technological advancement that will continue to develop through partnerships between the City of Montgomery, academia, industry, and the U.S. Air Force.
Panelist for the series were Ms. Venice Goodwine, Department of the Air Force Chief Information Officer; Ms. Jan Johnson, President of Alaska Northstar Resources; and The Honorable Steven L. Reed, Mayor of the City of Montgomery.
Mayor Reed shared that the focus is to grow entrepreneurial capacity, especially black businesses. One reason is because many lack access to capital and networks to launch their initiatives.
“We are building a foundation to grow business’s here. And we are leveraging our relarionship with thr Air Force to help achieve that.”
Panelists shared views about focusing on community and economics, retaining talent, and building entrepreneurs, and growing Black businesses.
Led by Mayor Steven Reed, the MGM Executive Speaker Series is dedicated to reshaping our community and will act as a catalyst for change; driving economic diversification, attracting top talent and companies, and fostering a competitive workforce.
