Austin Smith Announces Campaign Committee and Listening Tour for Alabama House District 74

MONTGOMERY, AL — Austin Smith, a Montgomery native, engineer, and longtime advocate for stronger, safer neighborhoods, today announced the launch of his Campaign Committee and formally confirmed his candidacy for Alabama House District 74. The committee will steer a disciplined early-phase operation focused on comprehensive listening tour across the district, and community partnerships.

Smith emphasized that his campaign begins not with slogans, but with conversations. “District 74 deserves steady, service-minded representation rooted in the lived experiences of the people who built these neighborhoods,” Smith said. “Our seniors want safety and stability. Parents want great schools and after-school options. Homeowners want infrastructure they can depend on. I’m stepping into this race because I believe in listening first, and then delivering results that match what this community tells us.” Smith made clear that his commitment to run is firm and his commitment to listen is foundational.

“This campaign is serious, and the responsibility is real,” Smith continued. “My engineering training teaches me to measure twice and build once. Over the coming weeks, my team and I will sit with church leaders, civic clubs, HOAs, neighborhood associations, and small business owners. Their voices will shape the priorities we carry to the State House. The people of District 74 aren’t just part of this campaign — they are the architects of it.”

The Campaign Committee says Smith represents a new generation of Montgomery leadership that honors tradition and brings modern, practical know-how. “Austin is thoughtful, steady, prepared, and grounded in real Montgomery values,” said a spokesperson for the Campaign Committee. “He listens deeply. He respects the people who have lived in this district for decades. And he brings the urgency, skill, and work
ethic needed to protect what makes our neighborhoods strong and to fix what needs
fixing.”

Within hours of filing at noon, the campaign recorded $1,640 in contributions and commitments from early supporters. Contributions are being processed consistent with Alabama FCPA rules. The first-day response reflects broad neighborhood backing across HD-74.
