The BT Knox Bigger and Better Business Banquet was held Sunday, April 26 at the Alabama State University Banquet Room. The event was hosted by the Alpha Eta Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Nearly 100 guests attended the event.
The Business Banquet provided the opportunity to recognize fraternity members, citizens, businesses, and students who have strived to maintain a high level of scholastic achievement and service in the community.
The speaker for the occasion was Rev. Meredith Jackson. He talked about how we as a community should be business owners rather than business consumers. “Create businesses that will add to or improve your community” said the reverend “It all starts with an idea”. Rev. Jackson also elaborated on how we should teach our youth about business by showing them examples of successful businesses. Rev. Jackson is the owner of JayPBSig, a computer consulting, photographic and services company. He is also the Director of Technology Services for BTL Technologies, Inc. and a life member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
There were small businesses that were recognized and presented awards for community service and entrepreneurship. Recipients were Angela Tellis of Angela’s Kitchen and Eugene Tinker of Certified Technical Experts.
