The Montgomery Chamber of Commerce held its “Eggs and Issues” breakfast on June 19, 2015 at the RSA Activity Center Downtown Montgomery. The guest speaker was Congressman Mike Rogers, Alabama 3rd District. Congressman Rogers spoke about National Security and how it is a major concern on Capitol Hill.
“The number one issue with America concerns national security” said the Congressman at the beginning of his address. “We are ready to meet those concerns. It’s our job as policy makers.”
Congressman Rogers later discussed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and how it poses a threat to America. “Most American’s don’t care about Ukraine” he stated. The Congressman felt that we as Americans should care, especially since that the countries that border Ukraine are our NATO allies. The last time we had to send troops to Europe was seven years ago.
“It is cheaper to give Ukraine what they need versus getting involved” Congressman Rogers proclaimed. He believes that we should give more lethal aid to Ukraine. Congressman said he is afraid that President Obama won’t act.
