GTM: TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR SELF.

DAMIEN: I was born and raised in Montgomery. I lived in Atlanta for a period of time. I grew up around music. My father is a member of blues group The John Bull Band that plays on the Harriet II. My mother is an accomplished singer who got inducted into the Nashville R & B Hall of fame in the 1960’s. My older brother has a band in Tennessee. So it was meant for me to follow suit.

GTM: TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR COMPANY.

DAMIEN: Mystique World Muzik (MWM) was established in 2001. It is a small company. MWM was created to eliminate the middle man.  I got tired of paying someone else for studio time and booking. Instead, I could do it myself. I bought as much studio equipment as I could, and got a group of friends on board. MWM has expanded in to marketing, graphics, and design. We have a total of 10 on our staff.

GTM: WHAT ARTISTS HAVE YOU WORKED WITH?

DAMIEN: I have worked with a ton of artists. I was a songwriter for Usher in 2004. I’ve worked with local artists, The John Bull Band, and helped market local companies.

GTM: TELL US ABOUT YOUR RECENT ALBUM.

DAMIEN: On February 10th we released Star Child Chronicles. It went #1 on ReverbNation for Montgomery the next day. This is our third #1 album in Reverb. The album has a lot of covers including Stevie Wonder’s Knock Me Off My Feet. We are now rehearsing for shows that we have booked in Montgomery and Florida. The shows start in September.

GTM: WHY IS IT STILL IMPORTANT TO BE BUSINESS SAVVY IN YOUR PROFESSION?

DAMIEN: Because you have to learn as much as you can so you can provide knowledge to those coming after you. You have to set goals and keep your mind focused. Many artists take the route that gets them money and fame the fastest. They make unwise choices because they aren’t business minded. You have to take your time and pace yourself. Learn as much as you can. Cut out the middle man and do it yourself.
