23rd Booker T. Washington Economic Development Summit

The theme for this year’s Summit is “Aligning Policies, Resources & Opportunities: Strengthening Small Businesses, Entrepreneurs & Communities.” On both days, Wednesday and Thursday, there will be sessions on “Resources for Economic and Community Development” which will focus on public policy and funding options for communities.
On Thursday, September 19, the Luncheon Keynote Speaker will be Rev. Dr. Heber Brown, III, Senior Pastor of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD and founder of the Black Church Food Security Network. He will be sharing with us his experiences in coordinating a multi-state effort to network churches, farmers, other organizations, and volunteers to feed and support the needy in the Greater Baltimore area.
On that Thursday morning, during the Plenary Session at 8:30 a.m., there will be a panel discussion on Entrepreneurship where a group of exemplary local and regional entrepreneurs will discuss the successes and challenges in starting, maintaining, and growing a business. Also on the agenda are sessions for Start-up Businesses, Contractors, Food Entrepreneurs, Young Professionals, Industrial Hemp Aficionados, and those that are seeking business funding. The Small Business Expo will be held again this year and feature more business and community resources, business services, and select small businesses.
