Huntingdon Women’s soccer continues to thrive

Montgomery, AL- The Huntingdon women’s soccer team continues to push through regular season play with no signs of slowing down. Under the coaching of Matt Gill and Don Tees, the team consisting of 29 newcomers and 7 returners, have taken on the challenge of pursuing an USA-South conference championship.

On Saturday, the team started conference with a shutout win against Berea College scoring three goals in the first 26 minutes of play. The Lady Hawks improved their record to 7-2 and 1-0 in USA South play, if the Hawks continue to prosper they will break the NCAA-era record for the program. During the first month of play the team has already had two members named Division III Player of the Week by HERO Sports. Junior transfer Meredith Harrison received 1,307 votes after her performance during the opening weekend of play. Harrison scored three goals and recorded an assist over Centenary and scored the single goal in the 1-0 win over Millsaps. Freshman Mac Pearson received 728 votes after being nominated in her performance vs. Judson College, where she scored three of the team’s four goals.

The women’s soccer team will return for a home game this Wednesday September 27th at 7 PM CT to play conference rival LaGrange College (1-4, 0-0 USA South). Come out and support your Hawks as they take on the Panthers!
