JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: COUNCIL ON SUBSTANCE ABUSE-NCADD (COSA-NCADD) FINANCE COORDINATOR

The mission of the Council on Substance Abuse (COSA-NCADD) is to reduce the incidence and prevalence of the disease of alcoholism, other drug addiction diseases, and related problems.

This position assists the Finance Director in the management of accounting, budgeting and business functions of the agency, including the day-today operations of the Finance Department and working closely with other staff members.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for daily accounting operations, ensuring internal controls and policies in the finance office are followed to prevent inaccuracies in reporting.
  • Responsible for completing all billing activities from various funding sources.
  • Manages cash, accounts payable and general ledger services.
  • Produces the monthly financial statements respecting deadlines established by management and ensuring statements comply with GAAP.
  • Completes timely and accurate reconciliations on a routine basis for a) GL accounts, bank statements; and monitor and reconcile monthly activity of grant and other funding sources.
  • Assists with coordination and preparation for annual financial audit and 990 report.
  • Assists with the agency’s annual budget process.
  • Stays current with compliance and tax reporting issues to support situations that require resolution or may be identified as potential issues.
  • Special projects as assigned by the Executive Director and Finance Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business administration or related field and/or minimum of three years of experience in accounting and/or finance, preferably in a non-profit organization environment.

 

  • High proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel; ability to use other computer software including, but not limited to word-processing and database systems.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, ability to pay attention to detail and maintain confidentiality, strong interpersonal skills and commitment to working with a diverse staff are essential to successfully carry out the duties of this position.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail, quality and accuracy.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work well with co-workers, and under pressure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly sits at a desk and lifts or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Works for sustained periods of time that requires concentrated attention to detail.
  • Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Flexibility and ability to work evenings and weekends if the Executive Director deems it necessary to achieve the objectives of the program.
  • Work occasionally requires traveling using agency and/or personal vehicle.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required.
