Montgomery Greek Festival Returns, Bringing the Spirit of Greece to Central Alabama

Montgomery, AL – The Montgomery Greek Festival is back and ready to transport visitors to the vibrant world of Greece without the need for a passport. On June 2nd and 3rd, residents and visitors of Central Alabama are invited to immerse themselves in the rich Greek culture at the Annunciation of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church.

Prepare your taste buds for a delightful journey as you indulge in your favorite homemade Greek delicacies, listen to enchanting music, witness captivating traditional dances, and soak in the authentic Greek atmosphere. As you explore the beautiful grounds, the irresistible aroma of mouthwatering Greek dishes will guide your way. From succulent gyros to savory spanakopita and heavenly baklava, the festival will offer an array of traditional Greek dishes to satisfy every craving.

While adults savor the delectable flavors, children can engage in a variety of crafts in the specially designated Kid’s Area, ensuring that the whole family can enjoy the festival to the fullest. Experience the joy of Greek dancing as students from Montgomery Ballet’s Rania Charalambidou showcase their talent, inviting everyone to join in this exciting pastime and celebrate the vibrant Greek spirit.

A new feature to the festival will be a backgammon corner.  Visitors will be given the chance to learn and play this time loved game seen all over Greece and Cyprus.  This game is the oldest game in the world dating back to ancient Egypt.  

In addition to the culinary and cultural festivities, Father Paul Lundberg, along with the dedicated members of the Annunciation of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, will offer guided tours of the Byzantine style sanctuary. Explore the intricate beauty of the iconography and deepen your understanding of the Orthodox faith as you embark on a spiritual journey through the church.

The Montgomery Greek Festival will take place at the Annunciation of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, located at 1721 Mt Meigs Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36107. Festival hours are as follows:

Friday, June 2: 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

Saturday, June 3: 11:00 am – 9:00 pm
