MONTGOMERY, AL – The Montgomery Housing Authority (MHA) has been awarded
$600,000 (equivalent to 83 vouchers) for emergency housing assistance from the Housing & Urban Development (HUD). MHA is among several Public Housing Authority’s (PHAs) receiving funding through the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) passed by Congress in March will send nearly $28 million in housing relief to public housing authorities (PHAs).

Vouchers will be used to help assist individuals and families who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, affected by domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking, or recently homeless.

“We are always grateful for the continuous support received from HUD to aid our families and individuals. This grant provides a great opportunity for the Montgomery Housing Authority to meet a critical need in the city and assist with providing them a sense of safety and comfort from undesirable situations, “said Damon Duncan, President/CEO Montgomery Housing Authority.
