MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA (December 18, 2023) – The Montgomery Housing Authority (MHA) is pleased to announce that the Alabama Housing Finance Authority (AHFA) awarded the agency a 9% tax credit for Columbus Square Phase III. The 9% tax credit is a valuable resource that empowers us to continue providing safe and decent affordable housing for Montgomery families, says Chairman John F. Knight, Jr. AHFA administers multifamily programs to create affordable rental housing by providing funding and tax incentives that help developers build or rehabilitate properties for Alabama’s low-income families.
This achievement is particularly noteworthy as MHA was one of only 16 projects across the state to receive the award. Furthermore, we take immense pride in being the sole recipient of these tax credits within Montgomery, reflecting our commitment to addressing the critical need for affordable housing in our city.
MHA greatly appreciates the unwavering support, commitment, and collaboration from the City of Montgomery throughout this process. Together, we’re making a significant stride to improve the quality of life for all our citizens.
