Montgomery, AL — Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) is launching a bold new initiative to bring retired educators back into the classroom—not as full-time teachers, but as mentors, coaches, and champions for the next generation of educators.
“We’re inviting retired teachers, principals, and counselors to share their wisdom with our newest educators,” said Dr. Zickeyous Byrd, MPS Superintendent. “Your experience can make all the difference.”
These are paid, flexible positions designed to support early-career teachers through mentorship and guidance. The goal is to ease the transition for new educators and ensure that students receive a high-quality learning experience from the very first day.
MPS will host a Retired Educators Fair on Monday, August 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at the MPS Leadership Building (Central Office). All retired educators in the district are invited to attend.
To RSVP or request more information, please contact the retirement coordinator, Starr Plump, at starr.plump@mps.k12.al.us.
