River Region Fashion Week to be held in Montgomery

Montgomery, AL- River Region Fashion Week (RRFW) is the largest beauty, talent and fashion expo in central Alabama. RRFW is female, veteran owned minority business dedicated to the implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion within the beauty and fashion industries. After four years of proper planning, RRWF was founded by Transitions Technical College, Inc.’s President, Koniqueka R. Thompson. In the spirit of excellence, she sought the help of Designer Perry Varner; her good friend of more than twenty years. Armed with knowledge gained from her travels abroad, Perry’s time living and working in Alabama, Atlanta and New York; along with their real-life experiences, this dynamic duo of Alabama natives was able to create the concept which is now known as River Region Fashion Week. Through their involvement in various aspects of the American beauty and fashion industries over a combined three decades, these visionaries saw a need to facilitate change.

The RRFW brand was formed solely to elevate the beauty and fashion footprint in this area. The aims are to educate, cultivate and support talent by providing sustainable life skills and economic opportunities for creatives living in the River Region, seeking community through the global fashion and beauty industry.

April 20 – The KRESS Building 39 Dexter Avenue Montgomery, AL. The Luxury Lecture Series is community conversation featuring six successful area creatives who will speak about CREATING SPACE in the River Region. The panelists incudes 21 Dream’s Kalonji Gilchrist and Celebrity Photographer Michael Carson. Plus, a trunk show to introduce local boutiques featuring RRFW Models. Lite Fair and more. 6PM-8PM. FREE Admission. Presented by RRFW Community Partners. Media are encouraged to attend.

April 21- The Boutique Bounce and Makeover Matinee at Transitions Technical College, Inc. 6005 Monticello Drive Montgomery, AL. This event is designed to inspire people to SHOP LOCAL and will encourage patrons to bounce around town to our featured RRFW Boutiques. 11-6PM. In-store promotions.

April 22- FASHION’s NIGHT OUT around downtown Montgomery, AL 6PM-12M.

April 23- Fashion Day Party and BEAUTY EXPO 11-6PM featuring the 2023 Barber & Beauty Battle Competitions. Free Admission. At 6PM the 2023 River Region Fashion Week FASHION SHOW featuring 8 emerging designers including NYLA Couture, Charles Andrews Couture, Five Starr Designs by Brandon Crawford and Officially Snapped brand by Michael Snapp. Plus, nearly 50 local models and appearances by Dj Oz, Dj Meek and Toy Toy of 97.9 FM at ALOE Event Center. General Admission to this event is $25. Media are encouraged to attend.
