Alabama is home to many great athletes. Many have made it to the professional level Here are a few:

Cedrick Tyron Hordges

Cedrick Tyron Hordges is from Montgomery, Alabama. He was born January 8th, 1957. He played college basketball, 45 minutes away from home at Auburn University before he transferred to South Carolina. He was drafted into the NBA National Basketball Association in 1979 by the Chicago Bulls. He also played for the Denver Nuggets from 1980 to 1982. He also played overseas in Europe for 13 seasons.

Charles Barkley

Charles Barkley is from Leeds, Alabama. Charles Barkley just like Cedrick Hordges played at Auburn University. He was drafted in 1984 in the first round, 5th overall. He had a great career in the NBA. He didn’t win a NBA Championship but he was inducted into the hall of fame. He was voted into the all star game for 11 years. Charles Barkley was what some people call, “dogs”. This just means he played with a chip on his shoulder, played hard and was a relentless winner. He was only 6’6 but this mentality helped him to elevate as an under height power forward. He is now on tnt where he breaks down the game and commentates on the game.
Ozzie Smith

Ozzie Smith was another athlete that I researched. He played baseball and is from Mobile, Alabama. He played shortstop and his nickname was, “The Wizard”.  The nickname was given to him because he makes magical and sometimes unbelievable plays. He was a 15 time all star. He also won one mvp and one World Series Championship. Ozzie  Smith was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in 2002.
