Millbrook, AL- Alpha Love 2 Life presented a Summer Youth Grief Relief Program for girls on Friday, June 24. Alpha Love 2 Life was founded by Author Savannah Lynn Williams after her grandfather, Dedrick Bowden, passed away. One of the goals of this organization is to help young people who are grieving cope with their loss.

The focus this year was ‘Grief and Nature.’ Her desire was to have attendees surrounded by nature, so she chose the local Alabama Nature Center. During breakfast, speaker, Dr. Marjorie Lynn Bowden, shared her experiences with grief and gave tips on how enjoying nature helps in the grieving process. She also shared ways to take care of yourself and pamper yourself and the preteens and teens were able to talk about their experiences.

The tour started with a visit to the Nature Plex Discovery Center and Gift Shop. They took a Wildlife Walk and viewed live animal presentations. Tour Guide Debra Raymond was very informative. Lunch was served and presentations made before departing.

Alpha Love 2 Life was awarded a grant by Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium to host the event.
