I’m sorry Sister.

Murder, rape, robbery, looting, burglary all heinous crimes committed by an innumerable number of persons, a disproportionate number of black guys. But Black men have become synonymous with one crime not found in the Criminal code. One crime that has become a detriment to his community, his nation. This act of negligence is not found in law libraries, but written on the hearts of black women.

Women of color have a prodigious history on Mother Africa. They were Mothers. They were Warriors. Women like Queen Zazzau, Queen Makeda, and Queen Nefertiti molded great civilizations, routinely birthing Kings. In Africa it took Colonial powers to tear down our women, our history, in America today it only takes one horny male.

We black men lie to our women, we make them have abortions, we cheat on them, we lower their self esteem so ours can be higher, we beat them, we called them bitches and “hoes”, we disrespect them in front of our children, we make them raise our kids by themselves, we rarely support their dreams and aspirations, we purposely date white women and tell the colored woman you made me do it, we tell them we love them so we can have sex w/them. We destroy their souls. We date three and four at a time, making them feel like they are never enough. We make them question their very existence.

It has gotten so bad that degrading black women has become entertainment. Hip hop artist, r n b artist, athletes, reality tv all profit and flaunt their lack of respect for black women, yet they are celebrated and talk about incessantly on social media. It has become main stream to disrespect black women, see Lil Wayne on Sportscenter or Jay-Z w/the President.

I bring light to the treatment of Black Women because I recognize that if this Nation is ever going to change, if our community is ever going to change, black women will be the catalyst.

Black men, no Presidential Executive Order, Black men no law being passed, Black men no amount of money can make you love our women, respect our women, support our women, you see this is not something a government program can do. We as black men have to decide that our Sisters have been through enough. We have to decide that it’s time to heal our Sisters be real to our sisters. We have to decide it’s time to Stop the violence!
