Discovering the gift of voice was figured out at an early age by a free spirit singing to herself in a mirror. Native of Montgomery, Alabama, Kwatasian Hunt is spreading the word of motivation through her music. It was on a certain day at church, when Kwatasian was called up during a song to finish it off began the journey of something big. Hunt is a Christian contemporary artist who is promoting her new song titled “What Gain” featuring Dove Award Winner, Grammy and Stellar Nominee Antonio Neal. Kwatasian has been getting air play in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and also has received requests for playwrights who would like to have Hunt’s song in their production. Hunt would like to give a special acknowledgement to Mr. Henry Perry, Choir Director at Carver High School here in Montgomery, Alabama. Hunt mentioned how Terry shaped and molded her voice into what it is today. She also wants to thank him for putting in the time with her as a friend and mentor.
Q: What is the motivation behind you to continue wanting to make music?
Hunt: Everytime I try and put music down, God continues to put people in my path to encourage me. I have realized that my gift doesn’t belong to me, and that it belongs back to His people. So doing inspirational music encourages peoples’ hearts, and prepares them for the word of God and to seek a relationship with God.
Q: Do you have any upcoming events or performances coming up?
Hunt: This month I will be performing with the city of Montgomery for MPD Operation Good Shepherd graduation, performing a musical in August, doing a singing concert with the Word of Life church, and in Philadelphia doing a concert featuring my song “What Gain”.
Q: Do you plan on working with any other artist in your genre of music?
Hunt: I hope to continue to work with Antonio Neal, also working with Mark Jones, whose CD is titled “Under Your Wings”.
Q: Who are some of the artist in the Industry would you love to work with?
Hunt: I would love to work with Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, and at the top of my list is to work with CeCe Winans. She has walked upright before the Lord, but I definitely would like that kind of encouragement in my inner circle.
Q: What is something about Montgomery that you enjoy?
Hunt: The atmosphere, and we are a part of that Bible belt. Montgomery is full of churches and the things you can learn.
