Montgomery, AL- Leadership Montgomery is Now accepting nominations for the 2017 Unity Award. The award will be presented at the 2017 Unity Awards Breakfast Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Embassy Suites and Hotel Center.

The Unity Award is a Leadership Montgomery award recognizing collaborations that build bridges, foster understanding, and enhance the River Region community. The award was precipitated by the successful efforts of Leadership Montgomery Founders Lanny Crane, George Goodwyn, Sr., J.M. “Mike” Jenkins, IV and Solomon Seay (deceased) to partner with other individuals to make our community a better place for all its citizens.

Peggy Wallace Kennedy will be the Keynote Speaker for the awards breakfast. Mrs. Kennedy is recognized as one of America’s most important voices for peace and reconciliation. She shares her unique perspective of living behind the gates of the Alabama Governor’s Mansion as her father, George Wallace, rose to become one of America’s most influential populist.

Mrs. Kennedy’s personal journey of redemption and the love of her two sons captures the hearts of those who hear her voice. She demonstrates the best notion that none of us can be held responsible for the circumstances of our birth, but all of us will be held responsible for who we can become. In addition, Mrs. Kennedy has received many awards for her mission and work to include the Rosa Parks Legacy Award, Women of Courage Award, and the MLK Commission Award.
