MONTGOMERY, AL – The Montgomery Housing Authority (MHA) would like to inform the public as well as 3,000 Housing Choice Voucher clients about a recent money scam that has come to our attention.
Unfortunately, one client has already fallen victim to this scam, losing $500; others may have also been affected.
The scam involves individuals posing as representatives of our organization, contacting clients, and requesting money under pretenses. MHA wants to emphasize that they never ask clients for money in this manner. Any such requests should be immediately reported to MHA official channels.
MHA urges all of their clients to be vigilant and cautious when receiving suspicious or out-of-the-ordinary communication. It is important to verify the authenticity of the request by reaching out to the Housing Choice Voucher staff via phone and/or email.
MHA is committed to ensuring the safety and security of their client’s financial information and will take all necessary steps to prevent further incidents. Clients are asked to immediately contact the Montgomery Housing Authority Fraud Line at (334) 206-7111 and email [email protected] to report suspicious activity.
