Montgomery, AL- Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) will host a professional services forum with its newly hired construction program management firm, Volkert Inc., to provide companies information regarding new construction, renovations, and additions related to the MPS capital projects plan.

The forum will held October 5, 2021, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at G.W. Carver High School on 2001 W. Fairview Ave. To register Click Here

“We are one of the larger school systems in the state, and unfortunately, for quite some time, we have operated on the bare minimum of local funding, which is the state-mandated ten mills. We are incredibly grateful the Montgomery community rallied behind our school system and passed the ad valorem tax increase. This puts us in a position to actively work with Volkert to plan and design buildings conducive to productive learning environments,” Superintendent Dr. Ann Roy Moore shared.

Last November, the citizens of Montgomery passed the ad valorem tax increase, which will address much-needed building repairs, innovative learning programs for students, and additional resources for educators.

“My administration stands in support of Montgomery Public Schools and all of the efforts to improve education and outcomes for our students. Last November, a broad coalition from across our community overwhelmingly answered the call to change the trajectory for our students by voting to invest in our schools. Today’s announcement marks the first fruit of this vision. We will continue to support MPS leadership as we move our community forward,” Mayor Steven Reed said.

MPS recently established a Minority Participation Policy and strongly encourages minority and women-owned businesses to attend the forum.
