Montgomery, AL — River Region United Way (RRUW) has officially concluded the Emergency and Recovery Fund established to support the 14 victims who were directly impacted, through injury or loss of life, by the tragic shooting that occurred in downtown Montgomery on October 4, 2025.
The Emergency and Recovery Fund was launched as a community-driven fundraiser to provide immediate financial relief and support to those affected by this heartbreaking event. Through the generosity and compassion of community members, a total of $2,350 was raised to aid victims and their families in their recovery.
RRUW emphasizes that no funds from the organization’s annual campaign or Community Impact Fund were used for this effort. The Emergency and Recovery Fund was created solely in response to this specific tragedy and was supported entirely by donations from individuals and the community who stepped forward to help their neighbors in a time of crisis.
“We continue to support and pray for the families that were directly impacted by this horrific event that happened in our city. River Region United Way continues to help build stronger communities and provide services to those in need. We hope that out of this tragedy, there will be opportunities to find solutions, so this does not happen again,” said Jannah Bailey, President/CEO of River Region United Way.
At this time, River Region United Way is no longer accepting donations to the Emergency and Recovery Fund. Those who were injured or directly impacted by the tragic event are encouraged to contact River Region United Way for information regarding available support and resources.
River Region United Way extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed, shared, or supported this effort.
