Montgomery, AL- For Montgomery native PJ Belser, owning a business has always been a personal goal. As the owner and operator of Standard Integrity Janitorial, Belser turned that dream into reality by launching a company dedicated to providing dependable, high-quality cleaning services throughout the River Region.
“I always wanted to work for myself,” Belser said. “A janitorial startup has relatively low overhead, and I was told there was a great need for janitorial services in this area.”
The company’s name came about unexpectedly. While creating an online business account, Belser’s first two business name ideas were rejected. His third choice, Standard Integrity Janitorial, was accepted and ultimately became the foundation of his growing business.
Like many entrepreneurs, Belser faced challenges early on. He explained that one of the biggest obstacles was simply knowing where to begin.
“I didn’t know what to do first or what to do next,” he said. “I called people, asked questions, went downtown, and talked to the right people until I figured it out.”
Today, Standard Integrity Janitorial offers a full range of cleaning services, including commercial janitorial services, carpet cleaning, pressure washing, deep cleaning, floor stripping, buffing, and waxing. The company serves a variety of commercial clients, including dental offices, Alabama State University offices, real estate professionals, and property owners needing move-in and move-out cleanings.
Belser also believes in using environmentally responsible cleaning practices whenever possible.
“We don’t want to use chemicals that are harmful to people or the environment,” he said.
As a lifelong Montgomery resident, Belser says giving back to his hometown is important to him.
“It means a lot because I was born and raised here,” he said. “I take pride in contributing to my city.”
Beyond providing quality cleaning services, Belser hopes his business will create employment opportunities while helping local businesses maintain clean, professional environments.
Looking ahead, his goal is to continue growing Standard Integrity Janitorial by securing additional commercial contracts, hiring more employees, and expanding the company’s services. He also plans to introduce a handyman division that will offer minor plumbing, electrical work, flooring repairs, interior painting, furniture assembly, and other general maintenance services.
For aspiring entrepreneurs, Belser encourages taking action instead of waiting for the “perfect” time.
“The best time to start is now,” he said. “Put your business plan together, go after it, and don’t be afraid to collaborate with other business owners.”
Above all, Belser hopes Standard Integrity Janitorial is remembered for one quality: dependability.
“We’re dependable,” he said. “We’re going to show up, do our best, get it right the first time, and if we miss something, we’ll come back and make it right.”
