DOTHAN, AL – Dothan City Schools (DCS) has partnered once again with Alabama Clinics to offer free COVID-19 Antigen testing for employees interested in participating from August until November. The first date of the free “drive-thru” testing for only DCS employees will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2020, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Alabama Clinics on Highway 52. Additional dates include September 19, October 17, and November 14. The testing is voluntary for employees, and the results WILL NOT be shared with Dothan City School administration.

According to the FDA, an Antigen Test is a newer COVID-19 test that detects certain proteins that are part of the virus. Using a nasal or throat swab to get a fluid sample, antigen tests can produce results in minutes.

Antigen tests can detect if you have an active coronavirus infection. If you test positive on either type of test, you should follow the CDC’s guidelines to protect yourself and others. Molecular and antigen tests are performed using samples taken mostly from the nose and throat using a long swab, or other respiratory specimens.

Employees will need to provide their insurance card to the clinic staff and there should be no out of pocket costs for the tests. DCS will be covering the cost of Alabama Clinics’ staff to provide the test for DCS employees on these reserved dates. For more information, DCS employees can contact their immediate supervisor.
