WHERE ARE YOU ORGINALLY FROM AND HOW LONG HAS YOUR STORE   BEEN OPEN?  IS THIS YOUR ONLY LOCATION OR DO YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE?

Klazzy Girlz Boutique:  I am from Montgomery, AL, and we’ve been open for about 3 years. This is my only location, however I plan on opening more locations in the future.

GTM:  WHAT TYPE OF MERCHANDISE DO YOU OFFER?

KGB: We carry the latest fashions in dresses, leather apparel which is a trending item, shoe wear, along with jewelry.

GTM:  IN WHAT WAYS DO YOU HELP OR GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY?

KGB:  We participate in contributing to various organizations financially, such as cancer organizations, various charity raffles, and donating clothing to the less fortunate.

GTM:  COMPARED TO WHEN YOU FIRST OPENED, HOW HAS YOUR COMPANY GROWN?

KGB:  Well the company was my wife’s vision, and as spiritual and business partners we have grown the business together.  The quality of our products have improved tremendously compared to when we first started.  The supply and demand has increased.  Also, the underlying tax brackets and politics of small business have elevated to a much broader scale than when we first began.

GTM:  BASED ON YOUR OBVIOUS SUCCESS, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR COMPANY’S REVENUE?

KGB:  The overall revenue of our business is continuously increasing. This increase is due to building a genuine rapport with our customers.  Also, a change in location to a more popular area increased revenue as well.

GTM:  WHAT DISTINGUISHES YOUR PLACE OF BUISNESS FROM OTHERS?

KGB:  Our interior setup, design and overall creativity distinguishes our business from others.

GTM:  WHO WOULD YOU SAY INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR?

KGB:  My father inspired me to become an entrepreneur.  He owned an auto mechanic business in Birmingham.  Also, I have an uncle who owned a real estate company.  Entrepreneurs run in my family.  Altogether, my wife’s childhood ambition was to own a boutique one day.  Faith in God allowed us to live those visions as a result of those who inspired us.

GTM:  FOR PROSPECTIVE AFRICAN AMERICAN ENTREPRENEURS, WOULD YOU BREIFLY EXPLAIN WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR GOALS?

My advise to prospective African American entrepreneurs is that everything is attainable if you set your mind to it.  It’s not just a cliché statement, it really works.  You won’t achieve your goals overnight, but if you put in the time, effort and have your heart in it, then you can succeed.  We are a living testimony.

GTM:  HOW WOULD YOU CLASSIFY YOUR PRICES IN REGARDS TO THE QUALITY OF YOUR PRODUCT?

KGB:  We have some of the most reasonable prices in the city, along with very high quality product.  Customers don’t like cheap texture or low quality brands.  Before ordering our product, we actually attend different fashion shows and events.  This is how our quality product is hand- selected.

GTM:  WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE EXPECTATIONS OR PLANS, IN REGARDS TO FURTHER LAUNCHING YOUR COMPANY’S POTENTIAL?

KGB:  I would like to expand our horizons in fashion.  We have high class clientele such as first ladies of churches.  This inspires me to expand to the area of finer jewelry and church accessories to accommodate the high class clientele as well as the middle and low class.
