As a child, Christina would sing along with the radio or cassette player for hours. Mims grew up in a large family full of singers, and was always surrounded by music. “In our household, gospel music was the choice everyday”, said Mims.

Gumptown: Describe to us your first performance?
Mims: That’s a good one! One night, I was singing along with the choir at rehearsal and everyone noticed how LOUD I was singing. Eventually I started leading songs with the choir at about 12 or 13 years old.

Gumptown: What is the motivation behind your new single “What about you”?

Mims: That song was originally recorded by CeCe Winas, who is one of my all time favorite singers. I enjoyed the melody and the message of the song, along with its infectious groove. The songs talks about love and our need to seek salvation. When I decided to record it, I teamed up with my friend and mentor musician/producer Ron Handy to collaborate with on the final product.

Gumptown: Have you written other songs independently? If so, what are their titles?

Mims: Let’s see, “One Look”, “Coming Back to You”, “No More Time”. Etc. I was also featured along with Ron Handy on a song titled “He’s Worthy” that became a regular feature on Gospel/Smooth Jazz radio stations.

Gumptown: And we heard you sing at weddings also? You’re a wedding singer?

Mims: I sing at many special events in Montgomery and the entire region. I also travel out of state.

Gumptown: How can people get a copy of “What About You”?
